‘REUNION’ AIRS ON BBC ONE
Reunion (if you haven’t heard/seen already) is a British thriller told from the POV of a deaf man - created and written by the brilliant Will Mager, who is also Deaf, and whose voice brings an amazing level of authenticity to this story.
A special shoutout goes to Warp Films for their commitment to hiring Deaf talent in front of and behind the camera. It’s one thing to be telling this important story but another to be creating job opportunities for cast & crew members that have for so long been marginalised. This, of course, is exactly as it should be, but we all know it doesn’t always happen.
The next step is to keep hiring those from DDN communities… across all dramas… and not just those thematically centered around disability. If anyone wishes to be connected, or needs to discuss stuff / get advice, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d also strongly recommend speaking to the brilliant Jeannine Dowling-Jones.
Big congrats to director Luke Snellin who truly put his heart and soul into this. An all round great guy, whose levels of signing by the end were so good they were intimidating
Also editors Johnny Rayner and Emily Morrison. Assistants Phoebe Capewell, Brendan Nicholson and Nathan Summerfield. Composer Jeremy Warmsley. And post team Jeannie Downling-Jones and Mark Bradford - genuinely the loveliest group of people
All 4 episodes are out now on BBC iPlayer.
