BAFTA WINNERS - ‘SLOW HORSES’

Congratulations to my fellow Slow Horses season 4 colleagues that were honoured with BAFTAs last night.

Firstly, the incredible Sound team - Andrew Sissons, Martin Jensen, Joe Beal, Alex Ellerington, Duncan Price & Abbie Shaw - who won for their incredible work on my Episode 6 (the season finale). This was an episode jam-packed with action and suspense, which truly was brought to life by the amazing soundscape. However, most importantly, they honoured the core emotional tone that we set out to create. Slow Horses does not often let itself get sentimental, but 4 seasons in and with some big character moments it felt like it was time to go that little bit deeper than usual. Thank you to the Sound team for helping us achieve that, and thank you as well for the shout out in your winner speech.

Secondly, Robert Frost - with whom I edited alternating episodes - won the BAFTA for best editing on episode 1 of our season. It’s a brilliant episode and an amazing kickstart to another extraordinary season of Slow Horses. Robert and I met for the first time when working on Season 4 and immediately it sort of felt like we were long lost brothers, destined not only to have such a close-working relationship, but to become great friends. The collaborative process that I’ve forged with Robert has been one of the highlights of working on Slow Horses for me. It’s been a journey for us both and I’m delighted for him for this amazing achievement. Like the Sound team, Robert was also kind enough to thank me in his speech. See below.
